Letting Go of What We are Not

Spiritual transformation is not only about reaching higher states of consciousness. It is also about what happens within our human system along the way—how we experience ourselves, how we experience life, and how the structures and energies we have carried for many years begin to change.
The aim of my work has always been in two directions at the same time. On one level, we work with the human experience: healing, clearing, opening, expanding, and allowing more Light into the system. On another level, we move toward the realization of our True Nature—the Absolute, Brahman, what we are beyond the human experience and ultimately beyond creation itself.
These two aspects belong together. As our human system becomes clearer and more open, our life experience naturally begins to change. There is less heaviness, less inner movement, and less energy tied up in old patterns. More of our highest personal truth and our highest potential can come forward. Life begins to feel lighter and easier, not because everything outside of us suddenly becomes perfect, but because there is simply less going on inside of us that we have to carry.
When What We Have Pushed Away Begins to Surface
One of the first mechanisms that can begin opening during spiritual transformation is our ability to push away what we do not want to feel.
As humans, we are very good at this. Something painful happens, an emotion feels uncomfortable, or an experience is too much for us at the time, so we push it away. Sometimes we do this consciously, but very often it happens subconsciously. We simply continue with life without realizing that these energies are still within our system.
I often call them low-vibrational stuck energies. They are energies connected to experiences that were never completely processed. Even though the original experience may have happened many years ago, the energy can remain within us and can still be triggered by something happening in the present.
As the system becomes more open, this mechanism of pushing things away begins to soften. At first, this can sometimes feel uncomfortable because things we thought were gone may suddenly surface again. But this is actually an important part of healing. What was previously hidden can finally move through the system and leave.
The more open and expanded the system becomes, the easier this process can happen. Instead of carrying these energies for years, we can allow them to move through us without making them into another story or another identity.
Becoming the Observer of the Human Experience
Something else begins to happen at the same time: we start observing the human from a different perspective.
Instead of immediately becoming everything that arises within us, we begin to notice it.
What energy is here? What information is surfacing? How am I reacting? What am I believing right now? Is what I am believing actually True?
This change is very important because we slowly recognize that what is moving through our human system is not necessarily who we are.
There may be emotions. There may be thoughts. There may be old information or reactions. But we can begin to observe all of this from the background.
And with this comes more freedom.
The Past and Future Begin to Lose Their Hold
There is also a very interesting mechanism within the human system that continuously creates a past and a future.
Everything is actually happening only now. We call it the present moment because we need words to communicate about it, but in reality there is simply this one ongoing moment.
Yet our human system has the ability to bring the past into the present. We can remember an experience from twenty years ago and almost completely relive it emotionally. Then we can take the information we accumulated from those past experiences and project it forward, creating ideas and fears about what might happen in the future.
This is very normal for the human system, but it also takes us away from where our energy and our power actually are: here, now.
The present is where we can experience life. It is where we can focus our attention. It is where we can actually act.
As transformation deepens, the hold of past and future can begin to fall away. The past becomes information rather than an identity, and the future no longer needs to be continuously created from what happened before.
There is much more energy available when we are simply here.
When the Ego Moves Into the Background
For most people, the ego is very much in the foreground. It is involved in our decisions, our reactions, how we see ourselves, and how we interact with life.
There are energies within the system that continuously feed this ego structure and keep it strong. During spiritual transformation, these energies can gradually withdraw or dissolve.
For some people this can happen through a very clear shift. For others it happens slowly over time. But eventually the ego begins moving into the background, and something much deeper starts coming forward.
Our identification with our personal life story can begin dissolving as well.
We accumulate so much information about ourselves throughout our lives: what happened to us, what we achieved, what we lost, what other people told us about ourselves, who we believe we are, and who we believe we are supposed to become.
All of this creates an enormous structure of identity.
But our True Nature is already here underneath it.
We do not have to create our True Nature. We are simply removing the limitations that prevent us from experiencing what has always been here.
From Separation Into Oneness
The experience of being a separate individual is also supported by energetic structures within the human system.
We experience ourselves as being inside this body, separate from other people, separate from life, and separate from everything around us. Yet when these energetic limitations begin to dissolve, the experience can change completely.
Oneness is not something that suddenly appears because we achieved it. It was already there. What changes is our ability to experience it.
This is why mentally understanding unity consciousness or Oneness is not enough. The mind can understand the concept perfectly and still experience itself as separate.
The whole system has to follow.
There has to be integration and embodiment. We do not simply want to understand Oneness—we want the human system to become open enough to actually experience and embody it. This integration is a very important part of the work I do with the energies.
Life Stops Being So Personal
Another mechanism that can remain even when the ego has already moved further into the background is the feeling that everything happening in life is about “me.”
Something happens outside of us and immediately it becomes personal. Someone behaves a certain way, something does not work out as expected, or an uncomfortable energy surfaces, and the system says, “This is happening to me.”
As what I call the “I-thought” begins dissolving, this can change dramatically.
Life is simply happening. We are here experiencing it, participating in it and moving through it, but we do not have to turn everything into a personal story. This creates an enormous sense of relief. We can experience life much more directly without constantly filtering everything through the small self.
More Life Energy Becomes Available
All of these structures require energy.
Stuck emotions require energy. Maintaining the ego requires energy. Continuously reinforcing our identity requires energy. Reliving the past and projecting it into the future requires energy.
As these structures begin falling away, this energy becomes available again.
The system opens and expands. More life energy can flow through the central energy channel from the root toward the crown, and more Light can enter and move through the system.
And something very beautiful can happen: we suddenly have more energy for life itself.
Instead of using so much energy simply surviving our own internal experience, that energy becomes available for creativity, inspiration, enjoyment, expansion, and following what is genuinely important to us.
There is less we have to manage internally, yet there is more energy available.
This is one of the beautiful paradoxes of spiritual transformation.
We are not continuously adding more and more things to ourselves.
We are letting go.
We are clearing what is stuck, allowing old mechanisms to dissolve, releasing our identification with the small self, and becoming increasingly available for what has always been underneath all of it.
Our True Nature does not need to be created.
It is already here.
